John R. Wood Making Strides for Breast Cancer Team
This past Saturday, early in the morning, I joined a gracious group of John R. Wood Realtors and Staff and headed down to the Village on Venetian Bay for the Making Strides 5K Breast Cancer Walk. Led by Team Captains Lisa Mullins and Heather Wightman our team was decked out in our JRW hats, pink ribbons & shirts, and lots of smiles.
Our original goal for fundraising in these tough times was $1000. We far exceeded what we thought possible and raised over $3000! Congratulations to Rose Rothell, from the Bonita office, she raised $1090.00 .
There was a large crowd, lots of activity, speakers, food, survivors, and positive cheer. If you missed the walk this year I encourage you to grab those Nikes and join us or start your own team next year! For more information visit http://makingstrides.acsevents.org .
Another Breast Cancer Fundraising event that is coming up if you want to mark your calendars now is the Susan G. Komen 5k Race for the Cure at Coconut Point March 14, 2009. The registration is now open at http://www.komenswfl.org/

Shannon, congratulations to your coworkers for tripling your goal and raising so much for this cause.
Shannon,
You are the best! I was unable to walk this year for this event, but sponsored two friends from two different states. I have dear friends fighting breast cancer; it's a terrible disease...so thanks for making a difference!
Hi Shannon! Wow, you guys did a great job with your fundraising! Are you going to run in the race? We had our Race for The Cure a couple of weeks ago.
Hi All - Thank you so much for your interest and kind words. It was such a great experience with a super group. I had a lot of fun and think I might do something similar or the Race Ann.... a good cause , exercise , and helping people what more could you ask for?
